The Brandon Arts Council is pleased to announce its new annual Professional Artists Granting Program. The first call for proposals is detailed below. The 2012 grants will be worth up to $4000 each, and will be awarded to emerging professional and established professional artists or artist groups, for winning project proposals, in a range of recognized artistic disciplines. The proposed projects must be completed as proposed by the end of 2013. We cannot fund project costs that were incurred before the grants are allotted, nor for projects that are part of an educational credit program.
Grant application deadline: November 20, 2012 (applications must be postmarked by November 20).
Grant announcements: December 20, 2012.
To be eligible for Brandon Arts Council funding, a person must meet the following criteria:
- be Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, and have lived in Brandon for one full year immediately preceding application to the Brandon Arts Council.
- be an emerging professional artist or a practicing professional artist in a recognized arts discipline (such as music, visual art, dance, theatre, creative writing, or multimedia production). Artist groups may be newly established if the individual artist members are recognized professionals in their fields.
- be free to devote a concentrated portion of time to the proposed project in the next 12 months.
- demonstrate a Brandon-specific benefit for the proposed project.

General Information for Grant Recipients
The names of successful applicants and the amounts of the awards will be made public in the Brandon Arts Council’s Annual Report .
A T4A for taxation purposes will be issued to individuals for amounts received over $500. When grants are awarded to artist groups, the cheque will be issued in the name that appears on the first line of the registration form. If the application was made in the name of an individual, that individual will be issued a T4A for the entire amount of the grant.
Grant recipients are asked to inform the Brandon Arts Council if they are contemplating substantial changes to a project. If the project is significantly changed without approval, the Council reserves the right to rescind the grant.
The Brandon Arts Council requires acknowledgement of its financial assistance on all published materials relating to the activities it supports.
